I've definitely got my hopes set on getting accepted into the Across the Years race. Today during my 6 mile run that's all I could think about. I started calculating how far and how fast I would need to run in order to meet my goals. I'm thinking that I should be able to complete 25 miles every 5 hours. If I can stay consistent at that pace I should be able to hit my goal of 100 miles and still have a 4 hour cushion. As of right now I'm planning on running this race with as little stops as possible. My time in the Navy has helped to train my body into staying up for long hours so that shouldn't be a factor. What worries me the most as of right now is, will I be able to stay consistent for that long.
After I had spent a few minutes thinking about ATY during my run, it occurred to me that the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Phoenix Marathon is January 16, 2011, two weeks after ATY. I was hoping to run that race as my first race of 2011. (Yes, I think about stuff that far out) If I do end up running ATY though, I'm not sure I'll be in any shape to run the Phoenix RnR. I might be able to muster up enough strength and energy to run the Half-Marathon but I'm still not 100% confident that I'll be able to do that and I don't want to pay $90 only to have to forfeit because I'm barely able to walk, let alone run a Half-Marathon. The cheap registration cut off for the Phoenix RnR isn't until September so I'm just going to have to see how my body feels and make a judgment call from that.
As I'm sitting here writing this it occurs to me that I
