Today was an absolutely insane day at work. I was getting tasked to do all kinds of stuff from every which way. On top of that I still had to try to train one of the new guys that's going to be standing this watch soon. I have to admit...we didn't get much training done. I barely had time to go get lunch! I still did of course. A delicious Greek Chicken Wrap from the Point Loma Beach Cafe and OB. Definitely recommend that place if you're in the area. Having the trainee watch me during such a busy day, gave him a good idea as to how he needs to manage his time and also how to deal with certain people that we interact with on a daily basis. Not that he needs to be taught that much about how to act in the Navy...the guy has been in longer than me!
Today was also Erin's birthday! I would have loved to spend time at home with her but of course I had to work. The next best thing would have been to have a slow day at work so that I could email her all day and we could keep each other company like that...but of course it had to be out of control at work today. So we really didn't get to celebrate her birthday very much today. I brought home her favorite Mexican food, (Santana's of course), after work, and also got a Cold Stone Ice cream cake for dessert. It was all very delicious, even if it was a late dinner. Just another negative aspect of my job...gone for 12 hours a day I miss so much here with the family.
We also found out today that we will most likely be moving into Navy housing on the 8th of March! We're very excited to be getting out of this apartment, mainly because of the noisy neighbors, the occasional bug problem, and I will love being a lot closer to work. The place they offered us is kind of on a main road so I'm going to see if they have one in a quieter area of the neighborhood and hopefully that won't effect our move in date. No matter what though, we will be moving soon and I know that we all will be so much happier.
I downloaded a trial photo program tonight, Aperture3 for Mac and I've been messing with a little bit and it's actually really cool. I might have to get it once we have the money...it's crazy how much these programs can cost! Here's a little sample of what I did this evening with just a quick 10 minute trail. From what I can tell, it's pretty user friendly and if I have any questions, Apple always has instructional video's on their website on how to use their products. Of course if anyone out there recommends this program or thinks there's something better out there you're opinion is definitely appreciated.
My mom comes tomorrow! I'll be at work when she gets here and I'll be working the next day too. Luckily she has the next 6 days of for the holiday coming up so even though I'll be working, I'll still have 4 days to hang out and catch up...I suspect she's not too worried about me working for those first couple of days though...she says that she'll just have to spend more time with Natalie. Yeah, I'm sure she'll manage without me for a couple of days.
It was raining today...again. So I didn't get a run in...again. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a little more sunshine to the area, although the forecast is predicting more rain. I might just have to suck it up tomorrow. It's been 4 days since my last run...time to man up and deal with it...it's just a little water, right? Yeah...freezing water. HA! I complain about a little bit of rain and wind but then I see the weather report for D.C. 12 more inches of snow on top of the 20 they already got! Definitely time for me to suck it up.
