I've got good news, and I've got bad news...

First, the bad news because I'd like to end things on a high note.
On Thursday morning Erin and I were sitting on the couch watching the morning news when a report came on about the urgent recall of cribs made by the brand Simplicity due to infant deaths. Erin turns to me and says "Hey, that's the kind of crib we have now." The crib that Natalie sleeps in. I thought the news report named specific cribs made by Simplicity but I decided to check out the Consumer Product Safety Commission website just to be sure. Well it turns out that pretty much every crib ever made by Simplicity has been recalled and on top of that, the company has gone out of business so we can't send it back to them for a refund.

Our specific crib, the Simplicity Ellis 4 in 1

was recalled because the "tubular metal mattress-support frame can bend or detach and cause part of the mattress to collapse, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged, entrapped or fall out of the crib".

Or this:

Or worst of all this:

Well needless to say that we weren't going to allow Natalie to risk her precious little life in that death trap of a bed. So we all got ready and went out to Baby's 'R' Us and bought Natalie a brand new crib.

It looks something like this:

Now for the good news, Erin's mom read an article that said that we should be able to get a refund from the store we bought it from...well we actually bought this crib for Landon in Japan at the NEX. Obviously we weren't going to go to Japan but we went to the NEX here in San Diego and they agreed to take it back and give us a refund of $249.00! I don't remember exactly how much we paid for the crib when we got it but I'll take that $249 over nothing anyday! So now our little princess is safe in her crib and we have a little money to spend for her birthday.

Now to the good news about me. For those of you who read this often, you may bave noticed that there was a countdown to the Across the Years lottery results for the last 2 months at the bottom. Well the results came out on the 1st of May. So who's got two thumbs and got in to the race?

THIS GUY!!!

On December 29th I will be running the 24 hour run and I'll be hoping to run at least 100 miles in that 24 hours. I can't wait. For now I'll be focusing on the upcoming marathon. Only five weeks left until the marathon and training is getting intense but I'm definitely making sure that I don't over train. If I can run the marathon in under 3 hours and 10 minutes I should be able to qualify for the Boston Marathon next April. I'm not exactly a big fan of a certain baseball team from Boston but it would definitely be awesome to run the marathon there.
